History

Sometime in 1989, a few young girls and boys wanted to become real folklore dancers. It took only a small step from this desire to establishment of the children’s folklore ensemble Kremienok. So began the first steps of the dance routines: Krakurocky, Vazec wedding, Huska biela, Na Lucie, By the brook, etc. Since the beginning, we had with us more than 400 Bratislava’s children aged 4 to 16 years. Currently we have 90.

At first, we were located in the House of Children and Youth; later in the Center for leisure on Stefanik Street. We practised in the gym of the Jelenia Street public school. Since September 2002, we have been practising in the gym of the St. Vincent de Paul school in Bratislava – Ruzinov on Bach Steet.

During the 27 years of existence, we have given 350 performances in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Belgium, Hungary, Poland and Austria.

The founder of the ensemble, the choreographer for all dances and the art director since its foundation is Katarina Baginova.
